Benicio Del Toro Joins GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY And John C. Reilly Confirmed As Well

Deadline reports that Oscar winning actor Benicio Del Toro (Savages, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Traffic, Snatch) has landed a lead role in James Gunn's Guardians of The Galaxy. The unnamed part would see him apart of more Marvel films (assuming he signed one of their multiple film contracts). Giving the impression he'll be around for more than just one outing in the MCU. Marvel has a tendency to go after Oscar caliber actors for their main villains (Glenn Close?) and casting concerning rumored Kree Empire leader Ronan The Accuser (if Thanos is still out of the running) hasn't been announced. It's also possible he could be up for roles such as Thanos, Black Bolt, Nova or even Doctor Stephen Strange. The site also confirms John C. Reilly (Boogie Nights, Step Brothers, Magnolia) has indeed joined the cast as well. It's expected his character will be the go between Nova Corps and Earth's S.H.I.E.L.D. making him the Agent Coulson of the cosmic side of the MCU.
