Extended Casting Search For Captain America

So it looks like John Krasinski isn't the lock for Cap that was reported earlier today. Deadline Hollywood who originally posted the names on Marvel's casting wishlist says that the film's casting search will be extended. They also state that it will not workout for Chace Crawford or John Krasinski. While Mike Vogel (Cloverfield) is still in the running Marvel will be testing more actors for the role. The two names that Deadline reveals include Chris Evans and Garrett Hedlund. It seems that the $300, 000 payday and 9 picture deal hasn't attracted the talent they expected. They might be looking to sign up stronger talent.

Garrett Hedlund who will be seen in the epic Tron Legacy was on the original wishlist but wasn't able to test. Hedlund's reps originally "balked" at the deal they were offering. So I'm sure they'll be trying to get either more money or less film commitments. I'm sure with Disney owning both Captain America and the Tron franchises Hedlund could be talked into the role. He seems like the best of the bunch. After seeing him in Troy I believe he could be great if given the chance.

Chris Evans is another person who they are considering. Evans is no stranger to comic book films starring in two Fantastic Four films. He's also co-starring in upcoming comic films The Losers and Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. While I like Evans he seems like someone who could play a better supporting role rather than the lead.
