The third film which might be filmed entirely in the IMAX format is in a holding pattern. That's until the studio makes an official announcement about the script being finished and Christoper Nolan signing on to direct. It's interesting to see the effort Nolan is putting into Inception an original film concept of his. I expect Nolan to start pre-production on Batman 3 after the summer. Hopefully Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer will have a finished script by then.
Of course it's assumed that Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Micheal Caine will return along with Christian Bale.

CASTING THOUGHTS
Guy Pearce (Memento, Proposition) as Roman Sionis (Black Mask): One odd thing about Black Mask is that he's actually an enemy of Bruce Wayne and not Batman. It could make for some interesting conflicts within the personal life of Bruce. Sionis is given the responsibility of running his father's company after his death. He is almost running it into the ground and blames Wayne Corp and more importantly Bruce Wayne for his business failures.
Daniel Day Lewis (There Will Be Blood) as Edward Nigma (The Riddler): I've heard some really good takes on updating the Riddler. Some include turning him into serial killer and cyberpunk terrorist. I could see Nigma being hired by Sionis to spy on Wayne Corp's hard drives to steal projects and information. This leads Nigma to evidence that has Wayne Corp providing The Batman with weapons and tech.
Cate Blanchett (The Good German, Benjamin Button) as Pamela Lillian Isley (Poison Ivy): I see Isley as a political environmental activist who will go to any lengths to protect the planet. Along with organizing violent riots during protests of the companies, terrorizing Gotham and Wayne Corp. Going after Wayne Corporate members for their involvement in the destruction of the planet, including Lucius Fox and Bruce Wayne. This could led to the hiring of personal bodyguard Sasha Bordeaux.
Bob Hoskins (Long Good Friday) as Oswald Copperpot (Penguin): There are few ways this villain could go. One is to have him as an international arms dealer with ties to mercenaries like Bane and Floyd Lawton (Deadshot). Another is to have him running for mayor and all the seedy deals between him the mob and Rupert Thorne.

Emma Watson as Barbra Gordon: I don't expect to see Barbra ever wear a mask in a Nolan film. I haven't ruled out seeing Barbra herself making an appearance and getting into trouble.
