Green Lantern (June 17th 2011)

Based on the DC Comic character and directed by Martin Campbell. Campbell is credited for reviving the Bond franchise twice with Golden Eye and Casino Royale. Instead of invoking Nolan's Dark Knight, Lantern will be similar to Marvel Studio's Iron Man. Balancing a mix of science fiction, action, humor and drama. Pilot Hal Jordan is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.

According to many film blogs the two actors in the running seem to be Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) and Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation). While Cooper does have personality and a great sense of humor he hasn't proven himself as an action star. Worthington seems to have impressed enough people in Hollywood as he's starring in two of the biggest releases this year. Along with being cast as the lead in the remake of Clash of The Titans. I have a feeling the studio is waiting to see how their summer films do at the box office before they make a decision. At one point both Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Ryan Gosling (Notebook) were rumored for the role.

Casting Thoughts:

Karl Urban (Star Trek, Bourne Supremacy) as Sinestro

Emily Blunt (Wolf Man) as Carol Ferris
